Eyelash FAQs

  • NovaLash Lash Extensions are a glamorous new way to extend the length and thickness of natural eyelashes, and are a practical, convenient and beautiful alternative to the daily use of mascara. Unlike decades-old traditional false lashes, lash extensions are the first innovation in lash lengthening that can be worn daily, without nightly removal. Because each tapered, synthetic lash is bonded to a single natural lash, the final result is of effortless glamour and difficult to detect even close up.

  • When applied properly, lash extensions will not harm natural lashes. The NovaLash application technique allows natural lashes to grow and thrive with extensions. This technique requires several different “separation” steps during the application process so each extension is adhered to a single natural lash in order to prevent interruption of the lash growth cycle.

  • A Classic Full Set is when one synthetic lash is placed on each natural lash creating subtler and more natural look.

    ​A Hybrid Full Set is a combination of one synthetic lash and some custom fans; giving a full yet natural look.

    A Volume Full Set is when custom fans are made of 2-6 synthetic lashes on each natural lash to create a very full, dramatic look. (This is sometimes otherwise referred to as a Russian Volume set.)

    *All lashes come in different colors, curls, thicknesses, and length, so you can work with our lash stylists to create a custom look to suit your needs and preferences.

  • Lashes are a lot like nails, so some clients can go a full 4 weeks without needing a fill while others prefer to come in every 2-3 weeks. Different factors like your lash growth cycle, how 'rough' of a sleeper you are (if you rub your eyes in your sleep), or how well you take care of them can make a big difference in how often you need or may want to come in.

  • Mascara is typically not needed with lash extensions. Mascara should only be used when a touch-up is drawing near as any oil-based products will loosen the lash adhesive and cause your lashes to fall out quicker. Water-proof mascara will also cause the glue to break down and result in loss of lashes.

  • Allergic reactions are very rare, but can happen. Typically clients are just allergic to the gel pads that are applied under the eyes, and if this is the case we do have alternate products we can use to prevent a reaction. In the chance you have a reaction to the adhesive on the lashes themselves, we offer a non-damaging way to remove the lashes.

  • Nightly conditioning is recommended to maximize the life of the extensions. Your lashes are H20 friendly and will benefit from it! We offer NovaLash’s nighttime conditioning/cleansing pads separately and in our after-care kits. The cleansing pads are perfect for cleaning the lashes free of any makeup or debris while moisturizing them to maintain flexibility. Additionally, using a lash wand to comb the lashes free of tangles is also recommended as often as necessary.
